A prayer of thanksgiving in good times and bad

Blessed Be Your Name
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name
Blessed Be Your name
When I’m found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed Be Your name…
(Matt Redman)
Heavenly Father, Creator of the universe, we come to you in praise and thanksgiving.

When rains stop falling; the weak sun reminds us of spring around the corner; new buds are forming; all creation is stirring into new life

You God are good – We thank and praise you

When children are playing; adults are laughing; schools are teaching; churches are serving; families are caring; friends are forgiving

You God are good – We thank and praise you

When houses are warm; food is plentiful; bedrooms are safe; darkness is cosy

You God are good – We thank and praise you

When illness is defeated; when new jobs are found; when life purpose is apparent; when opportunities abound; when progress is forthcoming

You God are good – We thank and praise you

When floods still ruin houses; when the sun burns fires all around; when all crops are distinguished; through tornado, storms, tsunami

You God are good – We thank and praise you

When children are crying; wars are raging; schools are barricaded; churches are fighting; families are separated; friends don’t exist, and enemies surround

You God are good – We thank and praise you

When houses are destroyed; shelter doesn’t exist; the water may kill;  there’s no bed to sleep in and darkness is terrifying

You God are good – We thank and praise you

When illness defeats us; when anxiety swallows us up; when work evades us; when life seems purposeless; when no progress is made

You God are good – We thank and praise you

It is us who got it wrong…

It is us who turned away…

It is us who are broken…

You God are good – We thank and praise you

Amen
