A prayer for June 2017 in the UK

Heavenly Father

Manchester
London Bridge
Grenfell Tower
Finsbury Park

When will it all end Lord?
Terror, horror, lives lost, terrible injuries, pain, suffering, grieving, pain beyond imagination…

  • Parents having lost children
  • Children having lost parents
  • Friends and family members unaccounted for
  • Unsure what has happened
  • Unable to comprehend the cruelty

Every day in your world the same goes on
Man against man
Evil versus innocence
What can it possibly be about?

Poor communities suffering
All faiths mourning their dead
Angry voices seeking answers and justice
Churches displaying kindnesses
Volunteers showing mercy
People of faith and no faith displaying purity of heart
Priests, Rabbis, Imams, Community Leaders seeking peace, demanding calm, soothing frayed nerves
Christians persecuted, Lord, in your name; and Muslims and people of all faiths and none.

  • We look to you for comfort and mercy.
  • We pray to you for an end to suffering.
  • We beg of you an answer to prayers.

Let peace break out Lord
Let unity reign over division
Let love win over evil
Restore our humanity
Wipe out the pain
We need your peace Lord,
Peace in Jesus’ name
AmenĀ

Jesus said,

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.
Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” – Matthew 5:3-12
